I brought home a "High Plains View" (and Rancher News) from Colorado. People suit others for water rights. Colorado is the only state that has a law stating you cannot collect ANY rain water
from your property for your personal use because it is a state that feeds several other states
with its watershed. The snows from the mountains, and usually daily rains that swelter the rivers that run south, east and west bring drinking water and water for vegetation to all the southern states below it; New Mexico, Texas, Utah. Very different than around here where we take water for granted. No wonder my Mexican neighboor hauls buckets of water to her tomato plants and shrubs (mostly roses). And I gallantly swing my hose around like it is a water park! After living there for just 2 months I have gained quite an appreciation for drinking water and water shed areas. Someday we may be faced with this delimia, and we should start now to learn what it will take to survive if we do have problems. Too many people drink around here. (water that is).
Anyhow, gotta go shopping now.
