Well, I think we did it! People of my generation have turned over a new artist world; that of junk into art, weard funky stuff all contorted and made from people with an "untrained" eye for color, line, shapes, shading, painting etc.... commonly now known as "outsider" art or "folk" art to some, but there are even degrees of art withing these catagories I beleive such terms as "brute" art, "raw" art, "intuitive" art and "self-taught" artist. There are a few more, but the collecting of some of the more famous artists have been underway. Im guessing my art could be in one of these catagories. I used to feel like an "outsider" when I first started my selling of my artwork because nobody knew which catagory to put me into for shows. So I named it 'mixed media' sculpture.
Most people like my art, but some do not. Mostly the galleries in the part of the nation do not accept my artwork, however I have noticed a small change. Here in the north east artwork is very
much at a traditional level speaking. Their trained educational directors will not even begin to look at such nonsense as my works. The galleries are very snoody about it as well I have found.
However, Stamford CT put on its first "Junk Art Sculpture exhibit" this summer and it was great.
Not many pieces sold though. Things are changing. People want new and different for sure, only the real rich people want to keep things traditional around here so their collections wont go
stale. The rich can keep their pacco paintings and their other works from Mark Chagal. Not that I do not appreciate these artists' works, but that the collectors have such closed eyes to the newer artworks it seems. I mean WHY does an artist have to die before anything real happens
to them about their artwork? I need money now for my art, not when I am dead. I cannot
live on what I make right now with my artwork. Art for me is not about a little hobby.
Some artists are real, some artists should be recognized. LIKE ME!
I believe in myself as a true fine artist for my time, and I will die making artwork. I intend to write a book about it all too, and about myself. For whatever it is worth.
Peace and love to all who read this little diddy.
